2015 BMW X5 M and X6 M revealed

BMW has taken the wraps off the 2015 X5 M and X6 M in the build up to the Los Angeles Motor Show, which is scheduled to be held next month. While both these performance SUVs will make their public debut at the show, only the X6 M is likely to come to India - sometime in the second half of next year.

Both cars are equipped with BMW's xDrive all-wheel drive system and powered by a 4.4-litre V8 petrol engine featuring the company's TwinPower turbo technology. The engine puts out 567 bhp@ 6000-6500 rpm and 750 Nm of torque @ 2200-5000 rpm and is mated to an 8-speed M Steptronic dual-clutch automatic transmission. BMW claims that both models can do a 0-100 kph sprint in 4.2 seconds and hit a limited to speed of 250 kph. Stopping power is provided by high-perormance brakes. The company also claims that fuel efficiency and CO2 emissions have improved by 20% with the cars using 11.1 litres of petrol for every 100 km and emitting 258 g/km.

BMW has given both SUVs new bumpers, larger air intakes, a rear spoilers, chrome-finished quad exhausts and 20-inch alloy wheels. Customer can choose 21-inch wheels as an option. On the inside, both cars get M steering wheels, gearshift knobs, sports seats, instrument clusters and door sills among other features. Both cars are loaded with equipment and safety features.
