2015: New variants for Toyota Fortuner

Thank you to BHPian mroptimist for sharing this information with other enthusiasts!

In our previous reports, we had mentioned that the Toyota Fortuner is expected to get a couple of new variants in the current calendar year. Now it appears that the company has postponed the launch of these variants to 2015.

The first among the new variants will slot at the bottom of the Fortuner range. It will come with a 2.5-litre D-4D diesel engine in both manual and automatic versions and a two-wheel drive configuration. The new engine is said to produce 142 bhp.

The second variant will sit at the top of the Fortuner range. It will use the same 3.0-litre, 168 bhp D-4D diesel engine as the current model, but sport four-wheel drive and an automatic gearbox.

Apart from the Fortuner, Toyota is also looking at giving some updates to the other cars in its line-up. All variants of all models in the company's portfolio will get airbags as standard equipment. Additionally, the Innova MPV's interiors will be given minor tweaks.

Like other manufacturers, Toyota is planning to increase prices of its models by 2-3%.
