2017 KTM Duke 390: Details leaked

KTM has been readying the next-gen Duke 390 for launch. The bike has repeatedly been spotted testing in Europe and India. After multiple spy shots and videos showcasing various details surfaced on the internet, some more details of the bike have now been leaked.

It is now obvious that the new Duke's styling will be inspired by that of the 1290 Super Duke R. It features an aggressive stance, thanks to the bifurcated headlamps, sharper fuel tank which is now believed to be fully made of metal, reworked sub frame, and a new exhaust. It is also likely to borrow paint schemes from the Super Duke R.

Reports also suggest that the new-gen bike will get a coloured TFT LCD instrument cluster, similar to the one offered with the Duke 690. Bluetooth connectivity too is expected to be on offer, which will allow the rider to show GPS data on the instrument cluster, by connecting it through his smartphone.

There won’t be any major updates to the power and torque figures. But in order to make the bike comply with Euro-VI emission norms, KTM engineers have tweaked the engine. The bigger exhaust is believed to have added 4 - 5 kg of weight. Various reports have suggested that the Austrian manufacturer will be providing multiple ride modes on the bike.

Another bit of information leaked is the presence of separate function forks at the front. In such a system, one of the forks is responsible for damping, while the other handles the rebound.

The 2017 Duke 390's official debut is scheduled for EICMA 2016.
