2017 Suzuki GSX-R1000 & GSX-R1000R launched in India

Suzuki has launched the updated GSX-R1000 and GSX-R1000R in India. The former is priced at Rs. 19 lakh while the latter costs Rs. 22 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The updated models come with a new engine, added features and some cosmetic tweaks. Additionally, Suzuki claims that these are the lightest and fastest bikes ever introduced under the GSX-R name.

The 2017 GSX-R1000 and GSX-R1000R are equipped with a new 999.8 cc, inline four-cylinder engine that produces 199 BHP @ 13,200 rpm and 117.6 Nm of torque @ 10,800 rpm. This engine further comes with Suzuki's Racing Variable Valve Timing technology that has been derived from the company's MotoGP bikes.

The chassis of the bikes has also been revised. The bikes are equipped with Showa Big Piston forks and Brembo monoblock front caliper. They run on RS10 tyres from Bridgestone. Suzuki also claims to have made the bikes more aerodynamic.

Features on offer with the GSX-R1000 include 6-direction Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU), 10-level motion track traction control, motion track braking system, ABS, LED headlamps & tail lights and LED instrumentation. The GSX-R1000R further adds launch control, bi-directional quick shifter, Showa Balance Free suspension, cornering ABS and LED position lamps to the feature list.

In India, the 2017 Suzuki GSX-R1000 is available in Triton Blue and Metallic Mat Black, while the GSX-R1000R can be opted in Metallic Triton Blue and Glass Sparkle Black.
