Thanks to BHPian Swapnil for bringing it to our attention.

In January 2017, Ford introduced the 2018 Mustang facelift. The American muscle car has now been spotted in India, which suggests that Ford might be gearing up to launch the updated Mustang in the Indian market. Moreover, it is likely that the car will be showcased at the upcoming 2018 Auto Expo.

In terms of its design, the Mustang now gets a revised front end which features a lower hood, slimmer LED headlights with three LED DRL strips, re-profiled front grille and bumper with integrated turn signals while the tail lights get a C-shaped profile. The interior is similar to the outgoing model however Ford now offers a customisable 12-inch digital instrument gauge. Ford has added new exterior colour options and new design alloy wheels. The car in the spy image is painted in the new Kona Blue shade.

Certain active safety features like distance alert, lane departure warning, pedestrian detection, pre-collision warning and automatic emergency braking are now offered as optional add-ons. Active exhaust is part of the options list while MagneRide magnetorheological dampers are part of the optional Performance package. The Mustang now uses a cross-axis joint in the rear suspension and a new stabilizer bar. It also gets new shock absorbers.

The latest iteration of the Mustang drops its V6 engine and is only available with an updated 2.3-litre, 4-cylinder EcoBoost engine and a 5.0-litre V8 with direct and port injection. The EcoBoost engine makes 306 BHP @ 5,500 rpm and 475 Nm @ 3,000 rpm while the V8 produces 454 BHP @ 7,000 rpm and has a peak torque of 569 Nm @ 4,600 rpm. In the global markets, the Mustang is offered with either a revised 6-speed manual with a twin-disc clutch and dual-mass flywheel or a new 10-speed automatic gearbox from the F-150 Raptor. In India, we are likely to get the V8-powered Mustang GT equipped with the 10-speed automatic transmission.

Like its predecessor, the 2018 Ford Mustang will be imported into India as a completely built unit (CBU).
