2018 Maruti Ciaz launched at Rs. 8.19 lakh

Maruti Suzuki has launched the updated Ciaz in India. The facelift Ciaz is available in 4 trims with prices starting at Rs. 8.19 lakh for the petrol and Rs. 9.19 lakh for the diesel version.

The new Ciaz measures 4,490 mm in length, 1730 mm in width and 1,485 mm in height, which is identical to the outgoing model. Similarly, the 2,650 mm wheelbase remains unchanged.

The Ciaz gets a revised front end featuring a new grille with chrome accents flanked by new LED headlamps with integrated LED DRLs. The dual-tone front bumper houses a set of LED fog lamps, which have U-shaped silver trim around the pods. The rear of the car features updated LED tail lamps and a bumper with chrome inserts. The top-spec Alpha variant gets 16-inch dual-tone alloy wheels.

The updated Ciaz gets beige interiors. It has a dual-tone dashboard with faux wood trim and houses a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system. It offers Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity and has inbuilt navigation, Bluetooth and voice commands. The car comes with a 3-spoke multi-function steering wheel and an updated twin-dial instrument cluster. The central MID has also been updated with a 4.2-inch colour display.

Powering the Ciaz is a new 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder petrol engine with mild hybrid technology. This engine replaces the 1.4-litre unit and develops 103 BHP @ 6,000 rpm and 138 Nm @ 4,400 rpm of peak torque. It is paired with either a 5-speed manual or 4-speed automatic transmission. The diesel version is powered by the same 1.3-litre 4-cylinder diesel engine as the outgoing model. It makes 89 BHP @ 4,000 rpm and 200 Nm @ 1,750 rpm and comes paired with a 5-speed manual transmission. This Fiat-sourced diesel engine is expected to be replaced with a new 1.5-litre unit sometime in the future.

In terms of safety features, the new Ciaz comes with driver and passenger side airbags, ABS, rear parking sensors, speed alert system, seat belt reminders for both driver and passenger as standard. Features like rear view camera, ESP with hill-hold and cruise control are available on select variants.

The new Ciaz is available in 7 colour options - NEXA Blue, Premium Silver, Magma Grey, Dignity Brown, Snow White, Sangria Red and Midnight Black.
