2019 Range Rover Evoque unveiled

Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) has unveiled the 2019 Range Rover Evoque. The compact SUV will be made in the UK will be equipped with hybrid as well as conventional power plants.

The Evoque is based on the Premium Transverse Architecture and measures 4,371 mm long, 2,100 mm wide, 1,649 mm tall and the wheelbase has increased to 2,681 mm. Just like the outgoing car, it gets flared wheel arches, clamshell bonnet and a slim rear windshield. It also gets a shoulder crease extending from the front fender to the rear lamps, 21-inch alloy wheels and dual tone front and rear bumpers. It comes equipped with LED headlamps, flush door handles and sweeping indicators.

The interior gets a dual tone dashboard with dual touchscreens - the upper unit is for the infotainment system while the lower one handles the climate control and other settings. Additionally, a 12.3-inch driver infotainment screen is provided. The car gets new upholstery which is made from recycled material and is claimed to be a premium alternative to leather. The rear seats get 40:20:40 split-folding feature which increases the 591-litre boot space to 1,383-litres.

The Evoque comes equipped with multiple cameras - at the front and under ORVM cameras to project the immediate front of the bonnet on the driver screen, while the IRVM can be turned into rear camera display (in case the rear passengers or the luggage obstructs the driver's view).

The new Evoque will be available with a range of 4-cylinder petrol and diesel engines with power outputs ranging from 148-296 BHP. It can also be configured with a 48V mild hybrid system with a belt starter generator. The hybrid system turns off the engine at speeds below 17 km/h while the driver applies the brakes, and also offers an additional torque of 140 Nm. JLR is expected to introduce a 3-cylinder plug-in hybrid engine variant within the next 12 months.
