2020 Mahindra Thar scores 4-stars in Global NCAP crash tests

The all-new Mahindra Thar has been awarded a 4-star safety rating for adult and child occupant safety by Global NCAP.

As per the crash test report, the vehicle offered good protection to the head and neck of the driver and passenger. Driver chest showed adequate protection, while passenger chest showed good protection. Driver knees showed marginal protection while the passenger knees showed good and marginal protection. The car offered marginal and adequate protection to the driver’s tibias, while passenger tibias showed adequate protection.

The child seat for the 3 year old was able to prevent excessive forward movement of the head during the impact below the 550 mm limit. The car offered full protection to the 18 month old occupant.

The bodyshell was rated as stable and it was capable of withstanding further loadings. The test car was equipped with front seat belt pretensioners, dual front airbags, seat belt reminder, ISOFIX and ABS.

Following the launch of the new Thar, Mahindra had claimed that it complied with global crash test safety norms. However, the car had no NCAP rating back then.
