2021 Mercedes S-Class' massive 12.8-inch touchscreen revealed

Mercedes-Benz has released the first official images of the interior of the new S-Class. This time, the focus is on the car's massive 12.8-inch touchscreen infotainment head-unit.

According to Mercedes, the new S-Class has 27 fewer buttons and switches compared to the outgoing model. Most of these functions can now be operated using touch, voice commands or hand gestures. At the centre is a rectangular OLED touchscreen that is said to display crisper graphics and natural colours. The screen also consumes less energy than a conventional LCD unit. The climate control settings are displayed in the lower portion of the screen.

The S-Class will be offered with up to 5 displays. Apart from the infotainment system, the car comes with a digital instrument cluster that has a 3D effect. It has four different display styles and three modes. The car also has a head-up display with augmented reality (AR) support.

The new S-Class features the second generation MBUX system. The updated voice assistant can recognize 27 languages. Voice control can also be used to operate seat heating and massage functions.

The next generation S-Class is scheduled to debut in September 2020.
