2022 Lexus NX SUV unveiled with a plug-in-hybrid powertrain

The 2022 Lexus NX SUV comes with a host of cosmetic changes, added features and powertrain updates.

Lexus has taken the wraps off its new NX SUV. The 2022 Lexus NX now comes with a host of updates, in terms of cosmetic changes, added features, and a bunch of new powertrain options.

The second-generation NX SUV is said to have taken design inspiration from the Lexus LF-Z EV concept, showcased earlier this year. The front of the SUV carries forward the brand's signature 'Spindle Grille'. It also comes with a sleek pair of LED headlamps, along with new C-shaped air intakes with integrated fog lamps.

The 2022 Lexus NX also comes with a slightly longer bonnet, sharper character lines, newly designed LED tail lights connected by a light bar and 'LEXUS' lettering on the boot, replacing the old 'L' badge.

Inside as well, the 2022 NX SUV comes with a completely revamped dashboard layout. The SUV now comes with a new 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system (14.1-inch unit offered as optional), a digital instrument cluster, 360-degree camera, wireless mobile charging, electric front seats, a 'Digital Latch' with safe exit assist technology, 10-inch heads-up display and ambient lighting; among many others.

Powering the 2022 Lexus NX SUV are a range of engine options. This includes a 2.4-litre turbo petrol engine producing 279 BHP and 430 Nm. There is also a 2.5-litre naturally-aspirated petrol engine pumping out 205 BHP and 250 Nm.

Lexus also offers the 2.5-litre NA engine on its two plug-in hybrid variants - NX 350h and NX 450h+, producing 242 BHP and 306 BHP, respectively. The company claims that the NX has an electric-only range of 58 km. All variants come mated to a standard 8-speed automatic transmission.

The Lexus NX has been on sale in India since 2017, hence the new-generation iteration is expected to make it to Indian shores as well. However, there is currently no timeline for its launch in the country.
