2023 Mercedes-Benz GLE diesel-hybrid spied testing

The upcoming Mercedes-Benz GLE facelift will continue to take on rivals like the BMW X5 and the Audi Q5.

Mercedes-Benz has been working on updating a number of its IC engine-powered models for the international markets. One such model is the brand's popular GLE offering, which is also expected to receive an update soon.

Now, the upcoming Mercedes-Benz GLE facelift has been spied undergoing testing. The spy images showcase a camouflaged SUV with subtle exterior updates. These include a set of tweaked LED headlamps, a revised front grille and bumper and subtle changes to the tailgate and the LED taillight cluster.

The spy images also showcase the interiors of the GLE facelift. While the overall dashboard layout remains unchanged, the GLE facelift can be seen sporting a new steering wheel with a piano-black finish. The upcoming Mercedes-Benz GLE facelift is said to come packed with a host of features and tech as well.

The spy images also reveal the test mule as a plug-in hybrid version of the GLE SUV. Reports suggest that the SUV in the images is powered by a 2.0-litre diesel engine paired with an electric motor, producing a combined power output of 320 BHP and 700 Nm. The diesel-hybrid powertrain on the test mule is said to feature a 31.2 kWh battery pack, allowing for an electric-only range of 99 km (WLTP cycle).
