2nd-gen BMW 4 Series unveiled

BMW has revealed the second-generation 4 Series coupe. The car gets revised styling and a new mild-hybrid engine option.

The design of the new 4 Series is based on the Concept 4, which was unveiled at the 2019 Frankfurt Motor Show. At the front, the car features an enlarged twin kidney grille flanked by twin-pod headlamp clusters. The front bumper has also been redesigned. At the rear, the new 4 Series comes with slimmer LED tail lights and a dual-tone bumper with chrome exhaust tips.

On the inside, the new 4 Series gets an updated interior featuring a 3-spoke multi-function steering wheel and a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster. It has a 10.3-inch touchscreen infotainment head-unit that offers Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity.

The second generation 4 Series is available with a 2.0-litre, turbocharged petrol engine producing 255 BHP and 400 Nm and a 3.0-litre, 6-cylinder petrol unit with a 48-volt mild-hybrid system. This engine makes 382 BHP and 500 Nm. The car's 48-volt starter-generator provides a 11 BHP boost for a short duration.

The car also comes with 2.0-litre and 3.0-litre diesel engines. An 8-speed automatic transmission is offered as standard across all engine options, while all-wheel drive is available as an option.
