2nd-gen Mercedes-Benz GLA launched at Rs. 42.10 lakh

The 2nd-gen GLA is available in four variants, including the AMG GLA 35, which will be assembled locally.

Mercedes-Benz has launched the second-generation GLA crossover in India. It is available in four variants, including the AMG GLA 35. Prices for the standard GLA start at Rs. 42.10 lakh. The AMG version, which will be assembled locally using completely knocked down (CKD) kits costs Rs. 57.30 lakh (ex-showroom, India).

Exterior:

The second-generation GLA gets a reprofiled front grille, a sculpted bonnet and new LED headlights and bumper. At the rear, the SUV gets new tail lights, among other minor updates.

The AMG version features a more aggressive look. It comes with the Panamericana grille, sporty bumpers with larger intakes and 19-inch alloy wheels.

Interior:

Inside, the new GLA gets a dual-screen setup consisting of the MBUX infotainment system and a digital instrument cluster. It comes with wireless charging and a panoramic sunroof.

The AMG version gets a black interior with a sporty flat-bottom steering wheel, sports seats, Burmester audio system, AMG suspension and Keyless-Go Comfort Package.

Mercedes GLA engine specs:

The GLA comes with three engine options. The entry-level unit is a 1.3-litre turbo-petrol producing 161 BHP and 250 Nm. It is paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

The second engine is a 2.0-litre diesel equipped with a variable geometry turbocharger. This engine makes 188 BHP and 400 Nm and is offered with an 8-speed automatic gearbox and an all-wheel-drive system.

The range-topping AMG GLA 35 is powered by a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine producing 302 BHP and 400 Nm. Unlike the regular petrol version, the AMG gets an all-wheel-drive system and an 8-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
