Skoda India’s Brand Director, Petr Janeba, had earlier stated that the second-generation Kodiaq would arrive in India by mid-2025. He has now confirmed that the SUV will in fact be launched in May of next year.
The new-gen Kodiaq made its global debut in October 2023 and is already on sale in European markets. Skoda has been testing the vehicle on Indian roads since mid-2024.
The new Kodiaq is based on the VW Group’s MQB EVO platform. It is slightly larger than the outgoing model and adopts a new exterior design. It has the signature Skoda butterfly grille at the front with split headlamps on either side and C-shaped LED taillights.
Inside, the new Kodiaq gets a free-standing 13-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 10-inch digital instrument cluster, and a stylish 2-spoke steering wheel. The gear selector is located behind the steering wheel, freeing up space in the centre console area.
In India, the 2nd-gen Kodiaq is expected to be offered with a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine. This unit produces 188 BHP and 320 Nm and will be paired with a 7-speed DSG.
