Last week, Honda launched the third-generation Amaze in India. Even though CNG is the preferred choice for many in this segment, Honda will not offer the new Amaze with a factory-fitted CNG kit.
According to media reports, just like the previous-gen Amaze, customers will be able to retrofit a CNG kit in their vehicles at the dealer level. It is said that Honda has instructed its dealers to facilitate CNG conversions by partnering with RTO-approved CNG conversion facilities.
The new Amaze is powered by a 1.2-litre, 4-cylinder petrol engine that produces 89 BHP and 110 Nm. It is paired with either a 5-speed manual or a 7-step CVT with paddle shifters. The CNG conversion will only be available on the manual version. The overall output when running on CNG will also be slightly lower.
Meanwhile, models like the Maruti Suzuki Dzire, Tata Tigor, and Hyundai Aura - the main rivals of the Amaze, are offered with factory-fitted CNG kits.
