4th-gen Hyundai Tucson unveiled; launch on August 4

The Tucson will compete with SUVs like the Citroen C5 Aircross and Jeep Compass.

Hyundai has revealed its fourth-generation Tucson for the Indian market. The SUV will be officially launched on August 4, 2022.

Hyundai has taken a radical approach when it comes to the design of the new Tucson. It is based on Hyundai's Parametric dynamics philosophy. The SUV features half-mirror type daytime running lights integrated into the grille and LED headlamps positioned on the front bumper.

The rear of the car features a full-width LED light bar with triangular tail lamp clusters. The rear wiper and washer are neatly tucked under the spoiler. The SUV rides on 18-inch dual-tone alloy wheels.

The new Tucson gets a dual-tone interior with a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a digital instrument cluster of the same size. It also gets Hyundai’s new 4-spoke steering wheel.

In terms of equipment, the Tucson comes with 2-zone automatic climate control, wireless charger, a panoramic sunroof, powered tailgate, air purifier, ambient lighting, a 360-degree camera, rain-sensing wipers, BlueLink connected car features, voice commands, Alexa and Google assistant and an 8-speaker Bose sound system. The SUV also gets heated and ventilated front seats, an electrically adjustable driver seat with memory function and reclining rear seats.

The Tucson is powered by a 2.0-litre petrol engine that makes 154 BHP and 192 Nm and a 2.0-litre diesel that makes 183 BHP and 416 Nm. While the former comes with a 6-speed automatic, the diesel engine is paired with 8-speed automatic transmission. The all-wheel drive version comes with three terrain modes – Snow, Mud and Sand.

The fourth-gen Tucson is loaded with safety features. Crucially, the SUV gets Level 2 ADAS, which includes features like forward collision warning, blind-spot assist, lane keep assist, rear cross-traffic alert, etc. It also gets 6 airbags, ESC, hill-descent control and disc brakes all around.
