A 5000km Bangalore-Rajasthan road trip in my Toyota Fortuner 4x4 MT

As expected, the SUV did not miss a beat throughout the entire stretch, keeping us cool and comfortable in the searing heat with temperatures hitting crazy figures outside.

Just finished a ~5000 km Bangalore - Rajasthan - Bangalore drive in our Nov '21 Fortuner ∑4 MT.

As expected, the SUV did not miss a beat throughout the entire stretch, keeping us cool and comfortable in the searing heat with temperatures hitting crazy figures outside. Ventilated seats were a boon, making the drive all the more comfortable.

Average FE for the entire trip was 12.9 kmpl, with best figure for a tankful being 13.5 kmpl - all this with A/C on 100% of the time and cruising speeds in the range of 110-130 km/hr. I am sure a gentler foot would have given better figures but with road like these, that was impossible

On engine performance, all I can say is - having experienced the 2.0L single-turbo engine of the Endeavour prior to this, the 2.8 lit mill of the Fortuner is ecstasy redefined  Whoever said "there is no replacement for displacement" knew his mechanics for sure!

Additionally, regens happened like clockwork. I had topped the DEF tank up just before the trip. After having covered 5000+ km since, still haven't got the "2500 km range" warning.

Here's what BHPian CEF_Beasts had to say on the matter:

Congratulations on your Fortuner! Wishing you lakhs of happy kilometers .

Didn't know till now that you got a Fortuner, any specific reason to go for the 4X4 MT over the improved AT?

Good to see a colour other than white, almost mistook your's as Phantom Brown instead of Grey in the first picture, third picture cleared that confusion.
