6th-gen Mercedes-Benz E-Class LWB launched at Rs 78.5 lakh

The E-Class LWB competes with the BMW 5 Series LWB in the Indian market.

Mercedes-Benz has announced the launch of the new E-Class Long Wheelbase in India. The sedan is available in three variants: E 200, E 220 d and E 450 4Matic, with prices starting at Rs 78.5 lakh (ex-showroom). Deliveries will commence in November.

The sixth-generation E-Class LWB has grown in proportion compared to its predecessor. The car is longer and taller, while the wheelbase has grown by 15 mm.

The new E-Class LWB features a redesigned grille with the three-pointed star logo in the centre and a black surround. It has reprofiled LED headlamps and new LED taillights with dual star-shaped patterns.

Inside, the new E-Class gets Mercedes’ Superscreen, which features a 14.4-inch central touchscreen, a 12.3-inch instrument cluster and a third screen on the passenger side. The long wheelbase version is about rear seat comfort and hence Mercedes has provided seats that recline up to 36 degrees in the rear with extended thigh support, neck pillows and electrically operated sun blinds. The car also gets Level 2 ADAS, 8 airbags, a 17-speaker Burmester audio system, and an optional Chauffer package.

In India, the E-Class LWB is available with three engine options. The base variant is powered by a 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder petrol that makes 201 BHP and 320 Nm. The E220 d uses a 2.0-litre diesel that puts out 194 BHP and 440 Nm and the top-spec E 450 packs a 3.0-litre, 6-cylinder turbo-petrol engine that produces 375 BHP and 500 Nm. All three engines are paired with a 48V mild-hybrid system and a 9-speed automatic transmission. The E 450 gets all-wheel drive as standard.

Mercedes-Benz E-Class LWB ex-showroom prices:

  • E 200 – Rs 78.5 lakh
  • E 220d – Rs 81.5 lakh
  • E 450 4Matic – Rs 92.5 lakh
