8 things about the Super Meteor 650 noticed by an Interceptor 650 owner

I feel that Royal Enfield has addressed the shortcomings that were found on the Interceptor and Continental GT 650.

BHPian aargee recently shared this with other enthusiasts.

Had an opportunity to check out the Super Meteor 650 as I was leaving after dropping my Interceptor 650 for service. The showroom manager was kind enough to let me know that the Super Meteor 650 was available & asked me to check it out.

Apart from all the common points covered in the internet reviews, below are some of my thoughts:

  1. The riding position is absolutely comfortable for anyone from 5.3 feet & above (perhaps most of us in this nation?); if I were to sound nitpicking, perhaps a little 1-inch extension of the handlebar towards the rider would have been even better.
  2. The black covers of the engine casing might have heat shield coating perhaps to protect the reservoir (only time will tell).
  3. The frame is damn awesome; fully powder-coated (unlike the Interceptor & GT on which it is painted) leaving no part to get detailed all the time perhaps?
  4. Weight? Damn awesome! Although it weighs more than the Interceptor, it couldn't be felt at all when seated & lifting off the side stand (I should've perhaps attempted to mount it on the main stand, sorry).
  5. Turn lights? Absolutely great! Unlike Inty & Conti's chrome finish, RE has blackened the finishing which should last long otherwise it would attract dirt spots that are hard to clean on the chrome.
  6. Pillion ergonomics has significantly improved over the Interceptor.
  7. Buy this motorcycle & you don't need to upgrade anything, be it the seat or light.
  8. Overall fit, finish, and quality of the parts are a notch over typical RE standards.

RE is learning, learning a lot; I now feel Interceptor (even 2021/22 models) was only a test mule as I think all the mistakes with Interceptor & Conti seem to have been fixed with the Super Meteor 650.
