8th-gen Porsche 911 launched at Rs. 1.82 crore

Porsche has launched the eighth generation 911 in India. The 911 Carrera S coupe is priced at Rs. 1.82 crore while the 911 Carrera S Cabriolet costs Rs. 1.99 crore (ex-showroom, India).

Like all 911 sports cars of the past, the new model features an evolutionary styling. The overall shape hasn't changed much but it gets a new dual-tone front bumper and circular LED headlamps with LED daytime running lights. The front is 45 mm wider than the outgoing model. At the rear, it has slim tail lights with a light bar in the centre and a redesigned rear bumper. The cars ride on 20-inch wheels at the front and 21-inch wheels at the rear. It comes with an active rear spoiler, which extends at a certain speed. On the Cabriolet, the convertible top can be operated in around 12 seconds at speeds up to 50 km/h.

Porsche has updated the interior of the new 911 with a revised dashboard design featuring a 10.9-inch touchscreen infotainment system. It has a 3-spoke multi-function steering wheel and a new instrument cluster with an analogue tachometer in the centre flanked by digital displays on either side.

The 911 Carrera S and Carrera S Cabriolet are powered by a 3.0-litre, turbocharged 6-cylinder engine that produces 444 BHP @ 6,500 rpm and 530 Nm of torque @ 2,300-5,000 rpm. The engine is paired with an 8-speed PDK dual-clutch transmission. Porsche claims that the coupe will do 0-100 km/h in 3.7 seconds, while the Cabriolet takes 3.9 seconds to reach the same speed. Both cars have a top speed of 308 km/h and 306 km/h respectively.

The new 911 comes with a Sports Chrono Package, Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) and a newly introduced Wet mode.
