All-electric Mini Cooper S E spotted undisguised

The Mini Cooper S E - the first all-electric Mini, has been spotted undisguised for the first time at a photoshoot in the USA.

The Cooper S E is based on the regular Mini Cooper S, but gets a few changes. It gets a blanked out grille with lime highlights, ORVMs, fender badges and rim inserts. It retains the Union Jack taillights of the Cooper S, while the electric charging port is expected to sit where the conventional fuel nozzle is located. The Cooper S E gets a revised rear end and new alloy wheels with a funky spoke design.

It is reported that the electric Mini will be powered by the powertrain from the BMW i3, which is rated at 181 BHP. According to a media report, the car's Li-ion battery pack will provide around 200 km of range.

The Cooper S E is expected to be unveiled at Mini's 60th anniversary celebrations, later this year. While details and specifications are not known, it is reported that the car will sell for GBP 30,000 in the UK.
