BMW has released the first video in a new series, which showcases the performance capabilities of upcoming EVs built by the brand's performance division.
As per reports, all future electric vehicles from BMW's M division will be powered by four electric motors as standard. The video also hints at a new control unit, which integrates a range of functions related to engine, steering, suspension, traction and many others. Franciscus van Meel, CEO, BMW M, stated, "It gives you a very special feeling". Van Meel also mentioned how integrating multiple control units into a single unit which handles everything, is the way forward.
BMW's dual-motor electric powertrain is already said to produce 610 BHP. Now, the addition of two more electric motors could possibly double that power output. Reports state how van Meel had previously hinted that the quad-motor M EV prototype had around 1,341 BHP.
BMW M hasn't revealed any details of any of its upcoming models. However, an electric M3 is expected to arrive soon and will be sold alongside the new-generation ICE-powered M3, based on BMW's Neue Klasse platform.
