The AMG GT Roadster is the open-top version of the AMG GT. While styling is similar to the coupe, it does get the new Panamericana grille, fabric folding roof and a slightly tweaked front bumper. The GT R, on the other hand, comes with a slightly different body kit, a fixed rear spoiler, side skirts, rear diffuser and 10-twin-spoke forged wheels. Both cars have a similar interior however the AMG GT R gets the carbon fibre trim and Alcantara, while the Roadster gets the more luxurious touches.

Both the cars use AMG's 3,982cc, twin-turbocharged V8 engine mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. In the Roadster, the engine makes 469 BHP @ 6,000 rpm and 630 Nm @ 1,700 - 5,000 rpm. Mercedes claims that the Roadster can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 4.0 sec and has top speed of 302 km/h. The Roadster rides on a choice of 5-spoke or 10-spoke, 19-inch alloys in the front and 20-inch in the rear. The GT R gets 10-spoke, 19-inch alloys up front with 20-inch rims at the rear with a matte black, 5-spoke, lightweight rims available as an option. Both cars come with ceramic brakes, AMG sports suspension and carbon exterior package.

The GT R, being more track-focused of the two, gets an electronic limited-slip differential and rear-axle steering. It comes equipped with a performance exhaust system with titanium silencers and light weight manually adjustable bucket seats. The Roadster gets features like AIRSCARF which uses vents in the headrests and draught stop. Both models are offered under the 'Designo' platform which allows customers to personalize their cars.
