Android Auto updated: Gets better UI & split-screen interface

Google has also announced better Assistance integration with the new update.

Google will soon be rolling out a fresh update for its Android Auto connectivity feature, focussing on vehicle touchscreens.

According to reports, the new update will now allow Android Auto to conform to the size and shape of any vehicle's infotainment screen. Along with the improved integration, Android Auto will also get a refreshed design, bringing it more in line with the latest Android software seen on smartphones. This will include updates to the font, shapes & general UI which will make it look similar to that of a smartphone running stock Android software.

In addition to the new design & UI updates, Google will also be introducing a fresh split-screen interface for this version of Android Auto. The update will offer a 3-way split, allowing navigation, media & communication to run simultaneously. The software will also allow the users to enlarge any of those tiles if they prefer to focus on one of the three applications.

Google has also announced better Assistance integration with the new update. The car will now proactively suggest replies, share arrival times with a person of choice and even recommend music options. The new Android Auto update is expected to be rolled out "in the coming months".
