Apollo Tyres now targets the premium 2-wheelers in India

Apollo Tyres is now targeting the premium 2-wheeler segment in India with its high-end bias and steel radial tyres.

The premium segment is said to constitute around 20% of the 2-wheeler market in India. The segment is said to be growing at a rapid pace due to urbanisation, rising consumer income levels and increasing young population.

To cater to this growing demand, Apollo Tyres has opened a dedicated facility to manufacture 2-wheeler radial and cross-ply tyres in Vadodara, Gujarat. The plant is spread over 10,000 sq. mt. and is housed within the company's Limda plant. It has an initial capacity to produce 30,000 motorcycle radials and 60,000 motorcycle cross-ply tyres per month. The plant has a modular layout which would enable the company to ramp up capacity as demand increases.

Apollo Tyres entered the 2-wheeler tyre business in 2016. It was the first to offer zero-degree steel radial tyres.
