Audi A5 Sportback, A5 Cabriolet and S5 Sportback launched

Audi has launched its new A5 range in India. The A5 Sportback, A5 Cabriolet and S5 Sportback are priced at Rs. 54.02 lakh, Rs. 67.51 lakh and Rs. 70.60 lakh respectively (ex-showroom).

The design of the new A5 range including the S5 Sportback has been completely overhauled. The Sportback models feature a coupe-like roofline. The S5 gets a subtle bodykit with S5 badges on the front fenders, silver ORVM housings and quad-exhaust tips. The A5 range now features a flatter and wider grille flanked by LED headlights. It also gets LED tail lights with dynamic indicators. The wave-pattern shoulder line and pronounced wheel arches are evident in profile. The A5 Sportback and S5 Sportback get a panoramic sunroof. The fabric top of the Cabriolet can be folded away in 15 seconds. The roof can be raised in 18 seconds at speeds up to 50 km/h. All three cars ride on 18-inch cast-aluminium 5-spoke alloy wheels.

Inside, the new A5 range gets a revised dashboard and the Audi Virtual Cockpit which uses a 12.3-inch TFT monitor instead of the usual analogue dials. The centre console houses an 8.3-inch Audi MMI touchscreen interface and the controls for the 3-zone automatic climate control. While leather or leatherette upholstery is standard on the A5, the S5 gets the Alcantara seat upholstery and memory function for the driver's seat. A 3-spoke multi-functional steering wheel with shift paddles is available on all models. Features like Audi Smartphone Interface, Bang & Olufsen audio system and ambient lighting package are optional.

Under the hood, the A5 Sportback and A5 Cabriolet share a 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder diesel engine which puts out 187 BHP and 400 Nm of torque and is paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. The S5 on the other hand gets a 3.0-litre, turbocharged V6 petrol engine that produces 349 BHP and 500 Nm of torque. This engine is mated to an 8-speed automatic gearbox. The A5 Cabriolet and S5 get Quattro all-wheel drive with a self-locking centre differential, while the A5 Sportback is front-wheel drive. The S5 is offered with sport suspension and can be kitted out with an optional sports differential.

In terms of safety equipment, ABS with EBD, traction control, cruise control, park assist with rear camera, tire pressure monitoring, ISOFIX child seat mounting and anti-theft wheel bolts are standard. Audi offers 8 airbags on the S5, 6 airbags on the A5 Sportback and 4 airbags on the A5 Cabriolet.
