Audi India has retained its position as leader among luxury car manufacturers in the country. The company sold a total of 10,851 cars in the calendar year 2014 against 10,002 units in 2013, recording a growth of over 8%. This is the seventh successive year of growth for the company. Audi's first launch of 2014 was the RS7 Sportback in January. The company followed it up with the A8 L facelift in May, which was equipped with matrix LED headlights. The A3 sedan, which is the least expensive car in the company's line-up, was introduced in August and the A3 cabriolet came in December. The Q3 Dynamic compact SUV was launched in September.

During the year, Audi opened showrooms in Udaipur, Visakhapatnam, Nasik and Kozikhode. The company also opened its first pre-owned car showroom under the Audi Approved: plus pre-owned car programme in Gurgaon.

Mercedes-Benz India ranks second in the luxury car segment, closely following Audi with 10,201 units sold in the year. BMW India has not disclosed its sales figures for 2014.
