Auto Expo 2023: Tata reveals new 1.2L & 1.5L turbo-petrol engines

The new 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine is expected to power the Curvv SUV.

Tata Motors showcased a wide range of products, including concept cars and future EVs to CNG versions of its existing models, at Auto Expo 2023. The carmaker also revealed two new engines that will power its future products.

Tata Motors revealed its new range of turbo-petrol engines at its pavilion. The new 1.2-litre T-GDi engine produces 122 BHP and 225 Nm, while the new 1.5-litre T-GDi unit puts out 165 BHP and 280 Nm.

These BS6-compliant engines are made from lightweight aluminium and are said to be more refined and fuel efficient. They are capable of running on E20 fuel - a blend of petrol with 20% ethanol. 

Tata Motors also showcased a close-to-production concept of the Curvv SUV. The new 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine is expected to power this model.
