Bajaj Discover 100 M commuter motorcycle reaches dealerships

Bajaj Auto has begun dispatching the Discover 100 M, a new variant of the hot selling commuter motorcycle in the Pune-based motorcycle giant's range, to dealerships across Maharashtra. The Discover 100 M will slot in between the Discover 100 and the Discover 100 T, offering more choice to the commuter motorcycle buyer in India. Team-BHP has scooped one such Discover 100 M motorcycle at a Bajaj dealership in the coastal town of Alibag, Maharashtra.

The Discover 100 M comes with the following changes when compared with the Discover 100 and 100 T variants:

  • New paint job and graphics
  • Petal-type disc brake option
  • Revised exhaust muffler
  • Reduced power output (9.3 Bhp-9.2 Nm)

The engine remains the same 102 cc, four valve DTSi unit with corrugated cooling fins. The engine is mated to a 4 speed manual gearbox, a step down from the 5 speed unit on the Discover 100 T. Other features on the Discover 100 M include black finish for the engine and alloy wheels, an electric starter, drum brakes as standard offerings, instrumentation cluster borrowed from the Discover 100 T, NITROX gas charged rear shock absorbers and a box-section swing arm.

Bajaj Auto plans to launch nearly half a dozen Discover motorcycles in the next few months, and these motorcycles are said to include refreshes and all-new models. It'll be interesting to see as to how Bajaj Auto manages to differentiate the slew of Discover variants given the confusion that a large number of similarly priced commuter motorcycles could cause a prospective buyer. In the past, Bajaj Auto was forced to discontinue a few motorcycles in the Discover range to create more differentiation. With the refreshed range of Discovers, the motorcycle maker seems ready to risk treading similar territory.
