Benelli evaluating mass segment electric 2-wheeler for India

According to a media report, Benelli is evaluating a mass segment electric 2-wheeler for India, which could be launched in the next 3 years.

Benelli was planning to enter the mass segment with a lower engine capacity motorcycle, however with the government shifting its focus from combustion engines to electric mobility, the bike maker has decided to invest in electric 2-wheelers instead. It has reportedly moved its market research focus to electric 2-wheelers.

Earlier this week, there were reports suggesting that Benelli was planning to scrap its plan to set up a manufacturing unit in India. However, the company has now clarified that it hasn't changed its plans for manufacturing in India nor any of its future investment plans.
