BMW i3 caught testing in India

A test mule of the i3 has been spotted suggesting that BMW could be planning to launch it in India. The BMW i3S, which debuted at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show, was showcased at the Auto Expo earlier this year.

The BMW i3 measures 4,011 mm in length, 2,039 mm in width and 1,598 mm in height. The car has a dual-tone exterior featuring the kidney grille and headlamps with U-shaped DRLs at the front and U-shaped tail lights at the back. The car comes with suicide doors. On the inside, BMW claims to have used recycled materials. The dashboard houses a floating touchscreen infotainment system. The car comes with a 2-spoke multi-function steering wheel and a digital instrument cluster.

The base BMW i3 is powered solely by an electric motor that puts out 168 BHP and 250 Nm of torque. It comes with a lithium-ion battery pack offering a maximum range of 200 km on a single charge. In the i3S, the electric motor produces 181 BHP and 270 Nm of torque. The range extender versions get a 647cc, twin-cylinder engine that works as a generator and increases the overall range to 330 km.
