BMW K 1600 B, R nineT Racer launched at India Bike Week

BMW launched two new bikes at the 2017 India Bike Week in Goa. The BMW K 1600 B is a touring bike based on the K 1600 GTL and is priced at Rs. 29 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The R nineT Racer is a café racer style bike based on the R nineT and costs Rs. 17.30 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).

The K 1600 B is based around a bridge-type, cast aluminium frame with a load bearing engine. The bike measures 2,489 mm in length, 1,000 mm in width and 1,465 mm in height. It has a wheelbase of 1,618 mm and a 26.5-litre fuel tank. The K 1600 B looks similar to the K 1600 GTL except for some minor changes. The windscreen on the bagger-style touring bike is comparatively lower and BMW claims that the fairing has been reworked so that it offers more weather protection.

The front suspension comprises of a Duolever setup with a central spring strut and a Paralever at the rear. The K 1600 B is powered by a 1,649cc, in-line 6-cylinder engine that delivers 158 BHP @ 7,750 rpm and 175 Nm of torque @ 5,250 rpm. The engine delivers its power to the rear wheel via a 6-speed transmission and shaft drive. Brakes come in the form of 320 mm dual discs in the front with 4-piston calipers and a single 320 mm disc at the rear with a 2-piston caliper setup. Standard features include cruise control, xenon headlight, heated seat, ABS and traction control.

The BMW R nineT Racer is a cafe racer variation of the standard R nineT. It is based around a 3-section frame with a load-bearing engine and gearbox. It features a removable pillion frame. The bikes measures 2,105 mm in length, 920 mm in width and 1,105 mm in height. It has a wheelbase of 1,491 mm comes with a 17-litre fuel tank.

The R nineT Racer features a cafe racer styled front cowl surrounding a circular headlamp and clip-on handle bars. The bike comes in light white paint with classic BMW livery. The bike uses 43 mm telescopic front forks instead of upside down type forks. At the rear is Paralever setup with an adjustable central spring strut.

The bike is powered by a 1,170cc, air-cooled, twin-cylinder boxer engine which produces 109 BHP @ 7,750 rpm and 116 Nm of torque @ 6,000 rpm. The engine is paired with a 6-speed gearbox and shaft drive. The bike is equipped with ABS and gets twin 320 mm discs in the front with 4-piston calipers and a single 265 mm rear disc with a 2-piston floating caliper.

Other features include adjustable brake and clutch levers, hazard warning lights and LED tail light, multi-functional display, power socket, immobilizer and 720W generator among others.
