BMW M3 crash: 2 dead, car burnt

Last week, an accident involving a high performance BMW M3 and two people traveling by scooter led to the tragic deaths of the latter. According to a recent report, the driver of the car, said to be the 23 year old son of a builder was speeding in the Virar area of Mumbai when he collided with a Honda Activa. The scooter had two people on board and the victims have been identified as Nazareth Dcunha (65) and Sangeeta John (45).

As per the first images, it appears the M3 was being driven on the wrong side of the road. The images also show that the car’s front left corner made contact with the scooter, causing the car to sustain tangible damage to the bumper, bonnet, front fender, left wing mirror and windshield. The impact was also strong enough to cause the airbags to deploy.

The incident took place on Friday and sources say, the police was prevented from taking the car to the police station by an angry mob. The car was found completely charred in the early hours of Saturday. Some say that the owner himself set the car ablaze to destroy evidence, while others say the mob burnt it down – both reports are only speculation for now.

It is also uncertain if the driver was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident. As per the most recent update, the accused has been released on bail and will be produced in the Vasai court shortly to face the charges levied against him. Further details on the incident are awaited.
