BMW R 1250 R and R 1250 RT launched

BMW has launched the R 1250 R and R 1250 RT in India priced at Rs. 15.95 lakh and Rs. 22.50 lakh (ex-showroom, India) respectively. Both bikes are imported as completely built units (CBU).

The BMW R 1250 R is a naked street bike. It has a diamond-shaped headlamp with a digital instrument cluster. It has a stepped seat with split grab rails and a single side-mounted exhaust. It comes with a front-wheel cover, front spoiler and tank side trim. The bike has an upside down fork suspension at the front and a monoshock at the rear. It rides on 17-inch cast aluminium wheels.

The R 1250 RT is a semi-faired touring bike. It has a large fairing with a triple-pod headlamp unit and windscreen. It has a single side-mounted exhaust finished in chrome, panniers and a stepped seat. It comes with golden brake calipers, radiator cover and stainless steel tank cover.

Both bikes are powered by a 1,254cc, 2-cylinder boxer engine that produces 134 BHP @ 7,750 rpm and 143 Nm @ 6,250 rpm. The engine comes with BMW ShiftCam variable camshaft control that is claimed to improve performance and reduce fuel consumption and emissions. The bikes also get new head covers and a new exhaust manifold.

The bikes come with 2 riding modes and features such as Automatic Stability Control (ASC), ABS, Hill Start Control and steering stabilizer.

The R 1250 RT gets seat heating, central locking, tyre pressure control, anti-theft alarm, Dynamic ESA, preparation for GPS unit, cruise control, keyless ride, Riding modes Pro, Headlight Pro and Daytime Riding Light.
