Bookings for the refreshed Swift commence

Maruti Suzuki have begun accepting bookings for the refreshed Swift (according to dealers in Mumbai). While no other details related to the exact launch date, variants or additional features are revealed, the launch for the car is slated in the weeks to come.

Sources say that the Swift is likely continue to sell in 3 trims - L, V and Z spec with minor cosmetic additions. Exteriors will sport L-shaped silver inserts around the fog lamp housing and a new alloy wheels. Interiors will get some added equipment such as an engine start/ stop button, reverse parking sensors, etc.

The motors powering the Swift will remain the same - 1.3L Fiat-sourced diesel and 1.2L K-series petrol motor. Both these will be mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. The big news however, is the automatic transmission which is likely to make its way in the petrol Swift.

A few days ago, we had reported that Consumer Affairs Ministry was considering taking action against Maruti Suzuki for accepting bookings for its recently introduced Ciaz, without revealing any details about the car (Read article). That however, hasn't stopped the company from accepting bookings for the new Swift ahead of its launch.
