CATL's latest batteries have 15 years & 2.8 million km lifespan

The CATL Tectran T is further available in two variants: Long Life Edition & Superfast Charging Edition.

EV battery giant CATL has unveiled its new 'Tectrans' battery lineup for commercial vehicles.

The new CATL Tectrans battery lineup consists of three versions, each tailored for specific vehicles: Tectran L (for LCVs), Tectran B (for buses) and Tectran T (for trucks). While all three versions of the Tectran battery are impressive, the Tectran T is arguably the standout among the three.

The CATL Tectran T is further available in two variants: Long Life Edition & Superfast Charging Edition. The first variant, as the name suggests, offers an industry-leading projected lifespan of 15 years and over 1.7 million miles (2.8 million km). The Long Life edition also offers a driving range of up to 500 km, with CATL also promising a battery warranty for the entire service life of the vehicle. This battery variant will also be available for swapping.

The Tectran T Superfast Charging Edition allows fast charging of the battery to 70% charge in just 15 minutes. This battery pack has capacities ranging from 200 kWh to 600 kWh and a max driving range of 500 km. Although optimised for fast charging, this variant also boasts an impressive lifespan of 8 years and 1.2 million km.

However, the other two batteries, Tectran B and Tectran L, are also equally impressive. The Tectran B has a lighter design, boasts an energy density of 175 Wh/kg and has a lifespan of 15 years and 1.5 million km. The Tectran L is also offered in 2 variants, covering capacities from 30 kWh to 200 kWh and a driving range varying from 150 km to 500 km, depending on the variant and capacity.
