Swapped out the old injector for a new one. I also swapped the cables, you can see the new clutch cable in the pic. I started the bike once just to verify that the new injector was working.
Old parts. Radiator shroud, end caps and old clutch and throttle cables
A lineup of all my Daisy tanks. Arancio Borealis, Arancio Xanto and Estoril Blue from left to right. The photos look a bit sad since the sun had gone down.
Daisy is back together! It's a mish-mash of colours for now, I've ordered more of the side panels, and once they're here, Daisy can be one color again!
Once the injector confirmed it was working after she started, I disconnected the battery so all fuel adaptations would reset since an injector change would need it. The battery was connected back approximately an hour later.
After the first start after connecting the battery and slotting the bike into the first gear, Daisy stalled. I then started and kept it idling for about 10 minutes so the initial adaptations would happen.
Later when riding off, the difference was immediate.
First off with the clutch. My biggest gripe with using Daisy was how hard the clutch was, compared to my 390 with the slipper clutch. The new cable with the new clutch arm has completely transformed it and made it a one-finger clutch just like my 390! I was blown away by this difference! Even the throttle cable swap made it much more smoother, I am now kicking myself for not doing it sooner!
Coming to the changes with the injector. The initial rideability has literally transformed. There is suddenly so much grunt low down and the tractability has improved by leaps and bounds. I could easily feel a more positive change after riding for 20KMs, the ECU adapted better and rideability at low throttle has just changed drastically for the better.
It only takes mere moments for 10-30KMPH on second gear with just the slightest throttle, earlier I could feel the engine bogging down at low RPM in 3rd and 4th when given sudden throttle, these have all vanished!
I am so excited at all these positive improvements with the injector change on Daisy I can only wonder how much better the 390 will be with its new injector! Sadly though with my work schedule, this will not happen for the next 2 weeks at least.
If you have an old Duke 200, change the injector. It only costs Rs 1498. Getting the injector professionally cleaned and flow tested would cost the same if not more. Absolutely recommended!
