Cheaper car / bike that you own & love as much as your costlier vehicle

I love driving & owning the Mahindra Thar as much as my fast 300 BHP BMW 530d & the Skoda Superb 2.0 TSI with its quick dual-clutch gearbox.

Inspired by this post on Ferrari Chat (another great forum, by the way) where a member says he loves his Tundra pickup truck as much as his Ferrari 458.

Am not kidding you, I love driving & owning the Thar as much as my fast 300 BHP 530d & the Superb 2.0 TSI with its quick dual-clutch gearbox. I also have a 550 BHP media test-drive car parked down my house, yet when I stepped out last evening for a dinner party, my hands picked up the Thar keys.

Reasons: It's a Jeep, feels very brutish & tough to drive, a proper 4x4 SUV, convertible top for open-top fun, smooth & quick turbo-petrol with a superbly tuned AT, modern amenities that make it easy to live with... and more than anything, the Modified Thar has CHARACTER. Cars like these prove you don't need to spend big money to have fun.

Which cheaper car from your garage do you enjoy as much as the more expensive one? At one time, I owned a 1st-gen City Vtec and it was genuinely as much fun (under 100 kmph) as the C220d 6-speed MT.

I can completely relate! I love my 1st-gen Honda City more than the BMWs and I'm always more concerned about it than the "babloo's" and the "Jetta"!

No such feelings here. I drive 15K kms a year. Approximately 10K on the Nexon EV and the remaining split between the X1 and the Mini.

Not that I enjoy the Nexon more but it's just workhorse for me. It's not a bad car though. The audio system is way ahead of both the other cars. The initial acceleration is almost as fun as on the X1.

I bought my 2001 Suzuki MAX100 when I was doing my masters in 2021 for the princely sum of Rs. 9,500. I still remember how I used to set aside Rs. 6 every day that I used to save by walking 2 kms instead of taking the bus. Did that for a few years and one day emptied my entire savings and bought the bike.

Even after buying it, I'd use the money that my parents used to send for groceries to gradually restore the bike and sometimes stayed hungry in the process.

Having bought a couple of bikes and a car after that, the Suzuki still remains my most prized possession. Nothing gives me the raw "feel" of riding a motorcycle like the puny little 2 stroke, and hence it is a forever bike for me. Kept under covers at my parents' house and I use it when I visit them a couple of times a year.
