Citroen C5 Aircross spotted in India

Last year, the Citroen DS 7 Crossback was spotted testing in India. Now, an uncamouflaged test mule of the C5 Aircross has been spotted on Indian roads.

The Citroen C5 Aircross is based on the PSA EMP2 platform. It measures 4,510 mm in length, 1,860 mm in width and 1,705 mm in height and has a wheelbase of 2,730 mm. The SUV features a split grille design with wraparound split headlamps with twin LED DRLs up top. It has a dual-tone front bumper with trapezoidal trims finished in a contrasting colour. The car has blacked-out A,B and C-pillars with C-shaped chrome trim around the windows. It has roof rails and chunky plastic cladding along the sides. At the rear, the C5 Aircross comes with rectangular tail lamp clusters and a dual-tone bumper with integrated exhausts.

The Citroen C5 Aircross gets dual-tone interiors with a touchscreen infotainment in the centre. It has a 3-spoke multi-function steering wheel and a digital instrument cluster.

In the international market, C5 Aircross is available with a 1.2-litre and 1.6-litre turbocharged petrol as well as a 1.5-litre and 2.0-litre diesel engine options, which come with a choice of a 6-speed manual or an 8-speed automatic transmission. In the Chinese market, the C5 Aircross is offered with a choice of 1.6-litre or 1.8-litre turbo-petrol engines paired with a 6-speed automatic gearbox. It comes equipped with features such as Grip Control with various driving modes, hill descent control, hill hold assist, blind spot assist, automatic headlamps, attention assist and cross-traffic detection among others.

While it is unclear whether the C5 Aircross will be launched in India, this could be a test mule for the 1.2-litre petrol and 2.0-litre diesel engines that are currently being manufactured at the PSA facility in Hosur, Tamil Nadu.
