Clocked 14,000 km on my MG ZS EV in 5 months

I'm happy at the thought of using my electric vehicle for impromptu unplanned drives like I used to do on my earlier cars.

5-month update

Lightfury completed 5 months of ownership recently which included a quick long drive to Kanyakumari.

Current odo stands at 14439Kms.

Few stats from the Kanyakumari Drive

  • Total distance driven: 1314Kms
  • Total time: 29h 30Mins
  • Driving time: 18h 50mins
  • Avg. speed: 70KMPH
  • Avg. consumption: 7.2KM/KWH
  • Time spent for charging: 4h 36mins
  • Total cost of charging: Rs. 4729.51
  • Cost per KM: Rs. 3.6/KM

I did not drive conservatively during the entire trip even when the SOC dropped under 10%. I was able to maintain good avg speeds with multiple quick accelerations. AC was on all the time. If driven with a lighter foot, the cost per km can come down, but I bought an EV to replace my ICE and I am not going to compromise on my driving style for a lower cost per KM.

Yes, there was a bit of anxiety during the Kanyakumari to Madurai stretch as the consumption was higher than expected.

All in all, I am happy with the drive and also happy at the thought of using EVs for impromptu unplanned drives like I used to do in my earlier cars.
