Coronavirus: Mahindra BS4 vehicle deliveries maybe delayed

According to a media report, deliveries of BS4 Mahindra vehicles could be delayed due to a disruption of components supply from China. The Coronavirus outbreak has resulted in several plants in China to close down temporarily.

Due to a lack of tier-2 components, manufacturing and registering the cars before March 31, 2020 may not be possible. It is said that if the shutdown continues, Mahindra and other automakers selling BS4 vehicles could seek an extension in the deadline to register BS4 vehicles. The deadline expires on March 31, 2020 and only BS6 cars can be registered from April 1, 2020.

It is said that factories of more than half of the top 20 global parts makers are located in China’s Hubei province, the epicentre of the virus outbreak. It is unclear when production will normalise.
