Corvette to become a separate brand in 2025

The new models will stick to the Corvette DNA in terms of design & driving dynamics and would be underpinned by GM's Ultium battery platform.

According to media reports, General Motors is planning to launch the "Corvette" as a separate brand sometime in 2025.

The new Corvette brand will consist of not only the C8 and its derivatives, but also a four-door coupe and a crossover, both of which are said to feature an electric powertrain. Reports also suggest an electric version of the C8 could be on the cards.

The new family of Corvettes will come with high energy density battery packs, superfast software, a patented cooling concept, ultra-efficiency inverters, high-revving electric motors, an 800-volt electrical system capable of up to 350 kW fast charging, a two-speed transmission, multi-mode four-wheel steering, torque vectoring and more.

The new models will stick to the Corvette DNA in terms of design & driving dynamics and would be underpinned by GM's Ultium battery platform, which allows for scalability while retaining the trademark elements of the iconic sports car.

It is said that the four-door electric coupe and the electric SUV would add two new values to the Corvette brand: mainstream exclusivity & overt luxury. Reports state that the aim of the Corvette brand is not to take on the Taycan or Cayenne but to create three great American cars capable of breaking new ground.
