Daimler makes India a global hub for export of BS-VI CVs

Daimler India Commercial Vehicles (DICV) will begin exporting BS-VI compliant India-built trucks by 2021-22. The company plans to export fully built vehicles, engines and parts to countries like Mexico, Chile and Brazil.

DICV received BS-VI certification in July 2019. Depending on the availability of BS-VI fuel, the company plans to launch its upgraded range of trucks and buses in the first quarter of 2020. Exports of its OM926 engine series is expected begin by 2021-22.

DICV has invested around Rs. 500 crore to localise its EURO 6 technology for India. It claims to have achieved over 80% localization and has completed 2 million km of testing. Daimler also claims to have developed over 1,000 new parts and completed setting up new facilities.
