Defence vehicles: Ashok Leyland gets Lockheed Martin platform

Ashok Leyland Defence Systems (ALDS) has selected Lockheed Martin to provide it with platforms while pursuing its Indian Armed Forces light specialist vehicle (LSV) and light armoured multi-purpose (LAM) vehicle programs.

Lockheed Martin, a U.S. global security and aerospace company, will supply its High Mobility Vehicle or Common Vehicle Next Generation (CVNG) as the base platform to Ashok Leyland for this development effort. The Indian Armed Forces are looking to modernize their protected wheeled vehicle fleet and there could be additional opportunities for this development effort beyond the LSV and LAM programs.

Ashok Leyland will serve as the prime contractor, and provide a manufacturing hub for global requirements of these vehicles and variants. As a licensed manufacturer of the CVNG, Ashok Leyland will have an opportunity to globally export this vehicle platform and its variants.

The Lockheed Martin CVNG is a versatile multi-terrain vehicle currently in service around the world.
