DeLorean plans comeback; Teases new electric sports car

The new model from the brand will be called EVolved.

DeLorean has released a teaser video, suggesting a comeback sometime this year. The teaser seems to preview a modern take on the brand's iconic DMC sports car, which was on sale in the early 1980s.

According to the teaser, the new model from the brand will be called EVolved. It will feature an electric powertrain and a focus on luxury. The electric sports car is expected to be designed by Italdesign since the studio itself released a similar teaser of the modern-day DeLorean last year.

The teaser released by the brand shows the car's gullwing doors, along with a hint of its long bonnet, reminiscent of the iconic DMC-12. However, it is yet to be seen if the modern-day iteration will feature the unpainted steel finish, similar to that seen on the original.

Italdesign's involvement is also fitting to the car's heritage since Giorgetto Giugiaro - the founder of the design studio was the person responsible for designing the original DMC back in the day.

The DeLorean Motor Company is now owned by British engineer Stephen Wynne and headquartered in Texas, USA.
