Volvo-Eicher is expected to launch a 49 tonne version of its Pro 6000 Series heavy-duty tractor. New spy images indicate that the new model will be called Pro 6049, where 49 indicates the gross vehicular weight (GVW). In April 2018, Volvo-Eicher had shared images of this upcoming heavy-duty tractor.

The Volvo-Eicher Pro 6049 tractor will be the first 49 tonne version in the Pro 6000 Series. It features the same low-roof, single-sleeper cab offered on the Pro 6040 tractor. However, unlike the 40 tonne version, the Pro 6049 has a tri-axle configuration.

At present, Volvo-Eicher offers 49 tonne GVW tractors as part of the Pro 8000 Series. These are powered by a 7.7-litre, in-line 6-cylinder diesel engine with Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) technology and come in 6X2 or 6X4 configurations. The engine produces 276 BHP @ 2,200 rpm and 1,050 Nm @ 1,100-1,700 rpm and is mated to a 9-speed gearbox. Details on the engine powering the new Pro 6049 are currently unavailable.
