The Koenigsegg Jesko is a mid-engined supercar and is limited to a production run of just 125 units worldwide. And goes without saying it is very sought after by collectors. Affording one is a different story altogether. So what do you do?
Well, the guys at NHẾT TV YouTube channel just decided to build one. The whole project took a year to complete and without the use of any high-tech equipment. And that makes it impressive. The entire build took place in Vietnam.
It started with a skeleton frame mocked up to create the Jesko's body, which is covered in clay and sculpted like what you would see in an OEM car design studio. Individual fibreglass body panels were made from that, then combined to create a single fiberglass body shell.
A steel chassis was then fabricated and this included bushings, suspension arms, mounts, and specialty fasteners needed to bolt all the parts together. The frame uses a sophisticated inboard suspension setup, which was tested in a very unsophisticated 10-foot drop from a wrecker.
A Toyota Camry with a four-cylinder engine was bought for just 100 USD and that along with a manual gearbox powers this replica. The original Jesko has a 5.0 litre twin turbo V8 putting out 1280 hp and 1000 Nm of torque.
The replica also uses the Camry's steering and brake system. The car gets only brakes at the rear since the engine and transmission were mounted at the back for this project. This meant the front brakes were installed behind.
Fibreglass was used to craft out the interior, and the best part is that the doors also open in true Koenigsegg style. There is also a body kit and spoiler made from fibreglass. The car doesn't have air-conditioning or an audio system.
The entire build process has been documented in a video.
