Facelifted Volvo V40 revealed

Volvo has unveiled the V40 in its facelifted avatar. The car features mild styling updates and gets the 'Thor's Hammer' LED DRLs in the headlamps and a new front grille with an updated design for the Volvo badge. The exterior updates include the addition of five colours, including the new Amazon Blue and Denim Blue shades, along with colours like Bursting Blue, Mussel Blue and Luminous Sand, which are offered on other models in Volvo's range.

The updated V40 range will also receive the new ‘rank marks’ that were first introduced on the XC90, denoting trim levels and variants. A total of eight new wheel designs will be offered across the V40, R-Design and V40 Cross Country models.

Volvo has also introduced a new upholstery called "City Weave" and the car will be available with a new charcoal / blond steering wheel option. New interior panel trims such as milled aluminium, black grid aluminium and stealth aluminium will also be offered.

Accent trim colours in the door inserts will now be offered with contrast stitching and a black headliner will be available as an option. New tread plates will be added for the R-Design and Inscription trim levels and an updated key fob with the new Volvo logo will be available as well.

Volvo is also offering an updated version of the Volvo On Call smartphone app. Volvo On Call already offers wearable connectivity (Apple Watch / Android Wear) and now gets Microsoft Band 2 connectivity, enabling voice-control for certain features when using Windows 10-based smartphones.

Volvo also claims that CO2 emissions in the D2 manual powertrain have dropped to 89 grams per km.

The updated V40 is expected to make its debut at the Geneva Motor Show in March this year.
