Ferrari unveils SF90 Stradale plug-in hybrid sports car

Ferrari has unveiled the SF90 Stradale, its first plug-in hybrid sports car. The company also claims that this is their first sports car to be equipped with 4WD.

The front consists of aerodynamic wing elements on either sides of the lip spoiler, slim headlamps and an S-duct on the bonnet. The sides get air intakes for the engine and 5-spoke alloys. The rear gets quad rectangular tail lamps and dual exhaust vents in the middle. The bumper gets a diffuser and a chrome prancing horse emblem in the center. It also features an active wing that Ferrari calls 'Shut-off Gurney'.

On the inside, the car gets a 16-inch digital instrument cluster, paddle shifters and a steering wheel equipped with the engine start/stop button and a touchpad among other controls.

The SF90 Stradale is powered by a 4.0-liter turbocharged V8 engine and three electric motors, one between the engine and the 8-speed dual-clutch transmission and two on the front axle. The engine produces 769 bhp while the electric motors develops a further 217 BHP. Ferrari claims a 0-100 km/h time of 2.5 seconds and a top speed of 340 km/h. Equipped with a 7.9 kWh battery, the car can travel 25 km on electric power only. The dry weight of the SF90 is 1,570 kg. The car comes with torque vectoring, electric Traction Control and electronic Side Slip Control.

The car is expected to go on sale later this year.
