Fiat Avventura Urban Cross launched at Rs. 6.85 lakh

Fiat has launched the Avventura Urban Cross in India, at prices starting from Rs. 6.85 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). The top-end variant is priced at Rs. 9.85 lakh. Deliveries of the Urban Cross will start from October 1, 2016. It will be available with both petrol and diesel engine options.

The Urban Cross is based on the Avventura, which is a crossover version of the Punto hatchback. The new model gets slightly toned down styling cues, in comparison to the Avventura. The most prominent difference is the missing tailgate-mounted spare wheel. Fiat has dropped quite a few design elements seen on the Urban Cross concept that was showcased at this year's Auto Expo. The production-spec car doesn't get LED inserts in the headlights, chrome detailing on the front grille, and 17-inch alloy wheels. Instead, it gets black plastic cladding throughout the car's lower body panels, 16-inch alloy wheels, a roof spoiler, and roof rails. A "Powered by Abarth" variant is also on offer, which adds Scorpion alloy wheels and Abarth branding all over the car.

On the inside, the Avventura Urban Cross gets a 5-inch touchscreen infotainment system that features Bluetooth, USB, and AUX connectivity, and also supports navigation. Fiat is also offering burgundy interiors as an option on the Dynamic diesel and Emotion petrol variants. This designer package is on offer for a limited period, and will include colour-coordinated door inserts, piano finish door armrests and seats with badging.

The diesel variant will be powered by a 1.3-litre, 4-cylinder MultiJet engine that churns out 92 BHP and is mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. It will be available with two variants - Active and Dynamic. The Urban Cross petrol is a 'Powered by Abarth' version that is equipped with a 1.4-litre, 4-cylinder T-Jet petrol engine, which is good for 138 BHP. This unit is mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. The Urban Cross petrol is available only in the top-end Emotion trim.
